From
the Book
Founded in 1871, the square mile of Old Towne Orange contains two
dozen different styles of homes, plus a selection from every
category of building on the National Register of Historic Places.
In July of 1871, Captain William T. Glassell pounded a stake in the
center of what was to become the town of Orange, and began measuring
out the lots for the Plaza. A Victorian fountain was added in 1888
and was replaced with the new electric fountain in 1936.
Author Douglas
Westfall lives in Orange with his wife and grandchildren.
